I just upgraded from 4 to 5 and can’t get Avid to open. I keep getting error messages. “Bus error” and “Segmentation fault” in thread “MainThread”, at address 0x0.

I’ve been working with a beta of 5 for a month and have been getting the “Bus error” message randomly.

I’m working with a quad core Mac with 6 gigs of RAM at work but only a MacBook Pro with Intel Core Duo 2.8 GHz with 4 GB or RAM at home.

I can’t get Avid MC5 to open at all on my MacBook Pro.

Did you do a clean install of Snow Leopard before installing MC5?

I’m getting the same error message. Have you found a solution yet?

Yes. I just did a complete uninstall of MC 4 and then re-installed MC 5. I’m able to open MC 5 and edit, however, once in a while I still get the error message and MC 5 crashes. I’m able to do a save before I close it down so nothing is lost but it’s some kind of bug. Thanks Job ter Berg for the help.

Thanks, that did the trick. However; once in a while I still get the error message and I have to shut down MC 5 because it won’t let me do anything until I re-start. MC 5 does allows me to save so nothing is lost.
