    Hi Folks,
I have captured a video on my miniDV camcorder and iam trying to copy them to my system. I have a tvtuner card to which i connected svideo output of camcorder and audio to my pc audio in. Iam able to capture the video as realtime using Virtualdub on windows xp. I used divx codec for video and uncompressed audio. The video produced is stored in avi format. I then use that video to edit using some editing software and the final output is stored as vob. The video editor once again converts the video from divx to vob i guess. Iam not very happy with final video quality. Is there any better way to do the same? I mean should i choose some other codec other than divx for the initial conversion using virtualdub? Please advice how its generally done when dealing with miniDV to digital video (dvd)

    Firewire is the norm.

You can always turn off deck control in your capture tool and grab via s-video at 1:1. It won’t look great.
If you capture compressed without firewire you will compress already compressed footage.
