  XDCam footage 23.97 – change frame rate to 29.97 for 30i?

  I am working with about 20 hours of XD Cam footage that was shot at 720p/23.97 and need to be able change the frame rate. I’m working on an Adrenaline with software version 4.0.5 with limited resources and know Avid can handle the multiple frames to work with, but will I need to transcode again for output?

  How can I change the frame rate? Do I need to bring the footage into a 720p/23.97 project, then try to change that over to a 24p, then bring back over to 30i?

  Seems very time consuming and I wonder about the final outcome when they are ready to output. This is a project that is 4 years in the works and has seen a few Avid upgrades.

  You just open the bins in a 30i project and insert into a 30i timeline. When it comes time to output via digital cut, do a transcode.
