AVID color corrects alpha channel
Hi guys
I need help with something. I import a motion graphic with an alpha layer from after effects (hd, quicktime) into avid. I then decide I wish to darken the imported graphic but when I adjust the colors on the graphic layer, it also changes the alpha channel, thereby darkening the video underneath.
Is there a setting that I need to change in either afx or avid that makes it completely ignore the alpha so that it won’t darken the whole screen? I don’t get this issue importing the same graphic into premiere (which was done as a test) to see if this was an after effects alpha issue.
I currently use quicktime, but i’ve also tried png sequences only to yield the same result. I don’t want avid to color correct the alpha layer. Are there any workarounds? Solutions?

Step into the matte key effect. When you do you’ll see:
V3 (alpha – this layer will probably be locked)
V2 (fill – your graphic)
V1 (blank)The monitor defaults to V3 so all you see is the alpha. Switch your monitor to V2 so you can see your graphic, apply a Color Correction effect to V2 and adjust to taste, then step out of the effect. It will correct the graphic but leave the alpha untouched.
