  recreating effects when uprezzing

  Hello,

  I am uprezzing a sequence that has media from tapes, photos and DVDs. I expect to have no trouble decomposing the sequence and batching in the tapes and importing the pictures, but I suppose that I will have to redigitize the DVD and eye match it and cut it into the sequence. This will be time consuming, which is alright, but my fear is that by cutting the new footage into the sequence, I will be overwriting any effects that had previously been placed on the old, low res, footage. Can anyone tell me how I can recreate the same effect after cutting in the new footage, or cut in the footage without overwriting the effect?

  Step into the effects until you see just the source clip and overwrite that. When you step out, then, the effects will still be in place and applied to the media you just cut in.
