Move playhead to TC in record monitor works… sometimes?
I’ve been editing a project for the last two days, heavily using the numeric keypad to type in specific timecodes to jump to, in both the source and record monitors. All of a sudden today, I can no longer enter TC for V1 in my record monitor. Avid just beeps at me. The weird thing is that if I switch to A1/2, it works. It also works on clips in my source monitor (and even my other sequences). If I type +20 to jump ahead 20 frames, that works too. But what I need is to jump to a specific V1 TC and it won’t let me. I’ve tried copying the seq into a new seq, restarting, etc. Any ideas? I’m stumped!

Above your record monitor, do you have your top timecode set to display the timecode of V1? It needs to be to punch timecode in directly. Check to see if it’s been changed.

Yes, it has been on V1 for 3 days now. The bottom one is set to I/O. Even weirder: I pasted that portion of the seq that is giving me trouble into a “working” seq. I am able to jump to TC for the entire rest of the seq except the part I pasted in…

Hmm. That’s weird. No clue if this will work, but try matchframing the video that’s giving you trouble and cut it back in. Maybe there’s a corruption somewhere in the media on your timeline (but hopefully not the source file).

Yeah, tried it. Weirdest problem ever. The media is transcoded to DNxHD 220x from HDV native, so I thought it may have corrupted in the process. But I went back to the original media and same thing. And when it’s in the source window I can jump to TC just fine. Oh well, I’m on a deadline so I had so scroll manually — what a pain!

Don’t forget to include leading 0’s in your TC number; 01:18:24:15

You need to make sure that the timecode you want to “jump to” is the top of the two timecode displays. You can enter partial timecodes depending on where you want to go.
01:02:03:04: will take to you that timecode. Unique spot if using record side timecode.
02:03:04: will take you to that timecode within the “hour” of the current blue bar position.
03:04: will take you to that timecode within the “minute” of the current blue bar position.
03:04: will take you to that timecode within the “second” of the current blue bar position.
