I am working in a 720p23.976 job with P2 media. I created a rough cut of all the shots needed with pad and since I had to deliver originally in SD, I transcoded the shots to DV25 to do a final cut with effects and all.
Now I have to deliver 720p23.976 but my Final sequence was created from the transcoded clips which have the name altered by .new added at end. Is there an easy way to relink this new sequence to the original DVCProHD media?
I know I can remove the .new from name of all the transcoded clips after the sequence has been decomposed, delete media for these clips and relink to original HD media. Just wondering if there is button/setting that would relink the transcoded DV25 clips to the original DVCProHD mediafiles without the extra steps?

    Thanking you in advance,
    Brad

Avid relinks by tape name and timecode. Doesn’t matter what your clip name is.

Determine the clips you need from your final sequence. In another bin, transcode to DNxHD from the original P2 media. Copy your sequence, highlight the copy and relink based on “highest quality” in the relink dialog.

This works for me. I’ve done a few P2 projects where I start with a DV25 transcode to do a stringout (soundbites for instance), and then relink to HD online media. Here’s a great video of this workflow by Bob Ruisso.
