  number pad keys reassigned

  I’m an editor at a documentary company and I just came back from my vacation to find that the keys on my number pad (where one would normally type in TC) have been reassigned to editing commands like trim or splice in. This reassignment is not just confined to my user settings and keyboard (all users and keyboards have been affected) and, according to Avid’s keyboard and command pallet, the number pad keys “cannot be reassigned.” No one here can make heads or tails of it. Anyone have any ideas?

  I’ve never heard of this one. What OS are you on? Could someone have changed the keyboard at the OS level? Anything change on the system while you were gone? Updates, new programs installed, etc?

  Hi Michael,
  Thanks for the reply. It’s a 64 bit OS, Windows Vista Business. I know a number of people were using the system to digitize and script sync while I was gone, but I’m sure no one here would intentionally change the board at the OS level. If this change would have to be done at the OS level, could I be looking a symptom of a computer virus? The system is not connected to the internet, but thumb drives are always in use around here…
