  Converting a 25p to 24p

  I have inherited a feature film that was wrongly digitised into a PAL 25P Project instead of a PAL 24P.
  The Edit is already well under way and must be maintained.

  For Sound reasons I have to move the project into 24P land.

  I understand I have to redigitise all the material into a PAL 24p.
  But how can I move the edit across and relink to the newly digitised media.

  Trying to use EDL’s makes a mess.
  Although the source/record Timecodes are correct in the EDL on export, (based on burn in information), when I import the EDL into the 24fps project, all the source timecodes change. I suspect it has converted them to 24fps Code whereas the 25fps Tape code should be maintained. (ie a Source Code of 18:08:51:10 becomes 17:25:18:04 after import)

  Importing the EDL as a 25fps EDL into the 24fps project creates a sequence I can’t open. (The modify tool does not allow me to convert it to 25fps)

  Im on the verge of manually frame matching the film in the 24fps project. So any help would be appreciated.

  Do the manual reconform. That way you can use newly synced clips in your new timeline. It’s a bore, but more foolproof than any other sort-of-automated way. Just my 2cts.
