Help! Avid quicktime export interlacing problem!
OK, so no clue on this one. I need to export a high rez quicktime movie from the avid and be able to use it down the road in final cut.
I first exported using “NONE” settings, which I’ve done it the past. Somehow on several motion shots the frames look almost interlaced. Seems to be a field problem? I then tried the codec Apple Uncompressed 10-bit 4:2:2 Same problem. Quicktime movie frames not quite right. I’m at a loss. Project is NTSC SD. 720×486. NDF.

If you’re in an SD NTSC project, your file is interlaced. It’s the nature of NTSC SD video. YOu can’t judge whether it’s a field order issue or just typical interlacing if you’re watching this on your computer monitor. You need to bring the file into FCP or another NLE and output it to an external monitor that can properly display interlacing. Computer screens are progressive, so interlaced stuff always looks bad.

Thanks Michael. THought that may be the case but after bringing qt movie into final cut, editing and then going to idvd to create a dvd…looks terrible on actual dvd.
