  • Applying Avid media composer motion effects on Panasonic HVX202 P2 files

Posted by Ben Powdrell on July 26, 2009 at 9:20 pm

I have an Avid Media Composer project set up at 25i PAL. I have some footage coming in shot slow motion on a Panasonic HVX202 P2 camera coming in on MXF files at HD 720p/25. However when I try to apply avid timewarp or motion efffects to the files from the P2 cam it crashes avid everytime – Assertion failed, effects buffer line….etc.

Any ideas for a work around?

    Thanks Ben

Try transcoding that clip to DNxHD first and see what happens.

if that no worky, set an in and out with plenty of handles and do a quick video mixdown.
You can then use that as a raw clip and apply speed effects/changes.
