    Hi there.

We are running Avid Media Composer v2.7.2 on a PC

When we have “client monitor enabled”, and go from the avid to a deck via firewire, and from the deck to a

monitor, and we play from the timeline, the audio synch starts to drift. You can hear the audio begin to

accelerate – the pitch get higher, and within 3-4 seconds sound no longer matched lips, and the offset

increases as you continue to play – i.e. goes from a little bit out of synch gradually to way out of synch.

if you hit spacebar twice to stop and restart play, it snaps back into synch and then drifts out again.

the synch drift is both on the avid window on the computer and on the external monitor. if we monitor audio

from the computer sound card, it sounds high pitched. if we monitor audio from the deck end, at the

points when it starts to drift the samples sound jumbled.

if i disable the client monitor, and just play on the computer, then the video stays in synch, so it seems to

be tied to sending the video out via the firewire.

we do not experience this problem when doing a digital cut, just when working in the timeline. so i am

guessing digital cut must buffer things differently.

we also do not experience this problem when we connect a mojo to the system. but we have one mojo that we

float between 4 systems, so 3 systems are always without a mojo.

all 4 systems have similar software/hardware combinations, and all experience this problem without the mojo.

any suggestions? it’s driving us batty!!!
