I’m running cs4 on a macbook pro with only 2 gigs of ram. it works but its slow. I was wondering how would be the best way to keep a project in manageable chunks so that I can put it all together at the end

Pre-rendering and using proxies are the first things that come to mind. These and several other ways to decrease the burden that a composition puts on your computer are listed here:

I’ll second Todd’s advice on pre-rendering and using proxies. Also, make sure you keep multiprocessing turned off in AE, and quit every other open application that you can.

Is getting more RAM an option? I’d think upgrading, even to 4 GB, would be a noticeable improvement.
