Digitizing problems – mostly audio
Hey guys (and gals),
Having trouble digitizing my footage, weird trouble though, and I’m not sure what to make of it.
I shot a LOT of interviews over the past weeks, and now I’m digitizing them, with hit & miss results.
All were filmed using a JVC camera, at HDV 720p/30, bringing them in via Firewire from our JVC deck, to our AVID Composer software. Also running a Mojo DX, and writing to a VideoRaid ST. Using a PC (against my will) that does OK most of the time.
So, here’s the problem: Capture works just fine in the beginning, but every so often, the audio just totally blows out to static, peaks the meter, is LOUD AS HELL, and I stop capturing. It will continue to capture in this way, but the audio is totally useless. video, however, captures fine.
Sometimes too, even if I don’t get the audio blowout, I’ll get bad frames, and during playback Avid will say something like “Exception: DecmopStream: GetFinishedFrame: Corrupt frame detected in [clip name] frame [frame number] of sequence error codec 36” but I can’t find that error code in any of the documentation.
So I guess my questions are: Can I get around this error? Is the issue with my camera and NOT with my editor? I’ve never had an issue like this before, usually bad frames are bad, video and audio included, this error appears to be only causing a problem with audio…
I need help, that’s for sure!
Sincerely,
Nate
