  AVID files across platforms

  Hey guys,

  In a nut shell my question is: Are AVID project and media (.avb,.omb .etc) files cross compatable? (PC to Mac, Mac to PC)

  Details: If I’m working on an Avid MC 3.0 project, on a Mac, can I take all my .OMB,.AVB, or even all project files from the Mac and copy them to a PC running the same MC 3.0 software, creat a project on that PC system open up the .AVB (bins) and see use the media (.OMB) files in them? How about sequences and AVX effects? (assuming both system have the same AVX effects.)

  Completely compatible. Since you’re going from version 3.0 to 3.0, there isn’t even a reason to make a new project. Just take the Mac project to the PC and vice versa.

  For all of the features and accomplishments that Avid is famous for, inculding AMA, ScriptSync, etc., this is in my opinion the best and most unique feature of all the NLEs out there.
