  • Avid Media Composer 3.5 and .m2t files *ERROR*

    Posted by Brandon Awesome on March 29, 2009 at 7:45 am

    I have 13 .m2t files that I captured a month ago, each about an hour long, that I am trying to import into Avid.

    The footage was shot on Canon XH A1 at 24F.
    (I know Avid know supports the Canon 24F now, its just a shame to try and do that when this is supposed to work as well)

    I captured the footage using HDVxDV. I am now trying to import it into my trail version of Avid 3.5. Project type: 1080p 23.976.

    Here are the exact directions Avid has in the Help window.

    ———————————
    To import an HDV transport stream:
    1. Select File > Import.

    The Import As dialog box opens.
    2. Select Files of Type > HDV files (*.m2t).

    3. Select the target drive (no other import options are needed).

    4. Click Open.

    Your Avid editing application copies the media in a fast import as native HDV.
    ———————————

    Simple enough. As it imports…
    “Fast Importing MPEG file: *clip name*”

    Fast Importing is always a good sign your doing something right.
    It goes really fast, then it gets to about 25% an an error message comes up…

    ———————————
    MPEGAudioImportReader::~MPEGAudioImportReader()
    CONSISTAENCY CHECK FAILURE !?! : [0]
    ———————————

    The Console reads…

    ———————————
    Exception caught in APlayer::Play – Exception: MPEGImportParserFifo::ReqGivePtr – Not enough space in Temp Buffer
    Exception caught in APlayer::Play – Exception Exception: CORE_UNABLE_TO_DO, className:AudioFileWriter, methodName:FlushRemainingSamples, preventedAction:Flush remaining samples – Timeout in seconds:, unableValue:1 raised Quiescing in the exception handlerException:

    * MPEGAudioImportReader::~MPEGAudioImportReader()
    CONSISTENCY CHECK FAILURE !?! : [0]
    ———————————

    Any ideas on how to solve this or what the problem is? Avid has been no help to me, probably because its a trial version.

    Dear Me,

    Import the files into Canpous Pro coder or any other program that can convert files into .m2t.

    Your raw .m2t files have small GOP errors, reconverting them to .m2t files removes the errors.

    That worked perfectly! Thanks!

    No problem. Try adding a Reverse Telecine filter to the clips as well then import them into a 59.94 project.
