MC 3.5 / Vista – mislocating audio files & disc access errors
I upgraded my system to windows vista recently (whoops, I know) and have two strange problems I really need to nail down ASAP so I can get a project out the door tomorrow. I upgraded from 3.0 to 3.5 thinking this might solve the problem and no dice.
(1) Avid has decided that several of my audio files are on different hard drives – problem is EVERYTHING project file + media file wise is on my J: drive. If Avid thinks WAV file #13 is on the E: drive how do I link it to drive J: where the file actually is?
(2) Disk Access Errors – when I try to save and exit avid I get error messages that prevent me from saving my project file. First I get “DISK_ACCESS_ERROR” then when I click okay I get something like “msmMMOB.mdb access denied”. I’d list the exact errors, but I’m not at home right now to repeat the problem. Any ideas on how to fix this?
Thanks for any help you can give – I’m kind of in a jam here.

As with the pot below in this forum, you have files and or folders that you do not have permissions for. You need to take ownership of all the files. Try using the link in the post below to go to the Avid site and see how to solve this.

Problem (2) solved – Just turned UAC off. Now everything works fine permissions wise. Now I just need help with:
Problem (1) – I’m not sure if I was clear enough the first time so I’ll explain the problem again and try to be a bit more detailed. Avid can’t find audio files it was having no trouble finding previously. I noticed this when a recent render was missing audio fragments it wasn’t before. Analyzing the problem told me two things – first, Avid thinks the .aif files are on a drive they should not have been on and second, Avid can no longer find the .aif when I use ‘reveal file’.
The original 24-bit wav files I recorded are all still in a separate audio folder on the J: drive (J:\Avid MediaFiles\Audio). All of the .aif audio files which Avid has created over the course of the project from these wav’s are also on the J: drive (J:\OMFI MediaFiles). I am unsure whether Avid still has the .aif files and simply cannot locate them or whether something happened to the .aif files.
In this situation what is the easiest way to get my missing audio clips working again? I don’t really understand how I would go about reimporting / relinking and there’s the possibility that the files Avid is looking for are still on the drive. I’m confused here – there’s got to be a quick & easy way to do this one way or the other.

Just out of the blue…I don’t recall changing my MC Adrenaline 2.7 system in any way…When I import p2 clips to bin I get this error: Exception: bmfiHPDomain_OBJECT_ID_OUT_OF_RANGE. An error occurred loading database H:p2 Footage BU#2Health Mandate0509It happens with all my p2 footage archived or new. I have tried logging in as administrator in MC instead of my user name and I was able to trick some footage into coming in with audio…thought that was it…but no… after trying some other footage…same thing.
I get the error above…then after clicking on error the video portion will load in without audio. I know I can drop footage into Avid MediaFiles MXF1 folder, but this import clips feature was so convenient.
Any help would be appreciated.ron demers
