January 23, 2009 at 7:33 pmWait, is this a riddle? I don’t get it.
I’d like to make a request on this post and many others like it. Give us a little info: software version, operating system, hardware, type of storage, model numbers, etc… You may not think it relevant to your problem, but perhaps it is. And in the larger scheme patterns may emerge of certain problems on specific configurations. No one of us on the Cow can have a hundred test systems but by the fact that we all share information allows us to gain insight into setups we don’t have access to. Further, a post for help that contains very little data can turn into a guessing game. If I want to play a game, I’ll invite some friends over and have them bring a 6 pack and a pizza. That is, if you cant be bothered to offer a detailed description of the problem and the situation it occurs in, why should I bother crafting a reasoned, descriptive answer.
Shimrit, your request for assistance may be genuine and honest but there are potentially thousands of configurations you could be working from. The Cow wants to help. When a problem is resolved for one it becomes a resource for us all. Unfortunately the question you posed is literally unanswerable.

January 23, 2009 at 7:43 pmHi Dino. thanx for the clarification. I didn’t think it would make a prob. and it was an honest question.
I’ll try to elaborate depanding on the info I have.
The software is Media Composer 2.6. The problem is that all worked fine up till last week.
I wasn’t even sure one can recieve the T.C info+ the control through the capture tool and not be able to see a visual since in is connected with a firewire cable. the deck is a HDV Sony. The computer is winXP op system.
This is what I know. I can get more info at the begining of the week.
Hope it is enough. If not, tell me what else is missing and I’ll try to collect the info.thanx again,
Shish. -

January 24, 2009 at 12:20 amPossibilities:
Is Media Composer set to 1080i HDV in the format tab? You might have control through Firewire even if that isn’t set as the video input.
Is the deck set to output HDV over Firewire (as opposed to DV)?
Any other Firewire hardware on the system, Mojo, Adrenaline? If so, shut down the computer, disconnect the hardware, restart.
Have you confirmed playback on the deck? With a monitor connected to the deck, can you confirm playback of the tape and that the tape is HDV?
Have you tried a tape that you know worked in the past?
