  JVC GY-HD111 720/25P into Avid

  Dear all,

  I would like to buy the JVC GY HD 111, but I am completely insecure now if I can import the material afterwards into my Media Composer. I only find old posts which warn that you cannot import this material into any AVID system. Does anyone have experience with it? Has this already changed?

  I have a JVC GY-HD110. Importing native m2t files into Avid is problemmatic, however, there’s a number of very acceptable workarounds.
  1-If you purchase Cineform NEO, you can transcode the m2t files into avi which import into Avid very easily.
  2-If you have a transcoder, like Procoder, Squeeze5, or TmpGENc, you can transcode the native m2t to standard m2t. This is just an odd transcode because it happens very quickly and the data really isn’t transcoded. It’s just “corrected” from what the camera wrote to what Avid is expecting.

  I filmed with the test camera 720 25 p and played it in both decks

  Sony HVR M15AE and JVC BR HD 50.

  Avid has no problem when I play SD with these two decks, as soon as I put in the tape I filmed with the JVC on 720 25p I get the message: No input signal present.
