  • Can I up convert a DvD with an Adreneline?

Posted by Rory Keenan on January 6, 2009 at 7:22 pm

    I’m working on a documentery.
    It’s mostly shot on Panasonic P2 720p 24fps.
The project is in 720p 24fps
However we need to pull bits of footage from lots of sources especially DvD.

Any tips on getting the Capture tool to recoginze the DVD Player?

The system is on a Mac and is set up to use Final Cut also (with an AjA I/O HD box), should I go through the AjA box, or should I buy an AjA FS-1 converter?

Will I be able to up-convert directly in to Avid
    and if so how?

I’m assuming you’re referring to a consumer DVD-Video format, correct?

Why not rip the DVD directly in your system?

Try the free app Handbrake. Choose the highest available file export quality. I prefer Quicktime for Avid. There are paid apps that allows more control like segment selection, etc.

You won’t be impressed with the quality though. We know that DVD-video is compressed and intended for delivery (not for editing).

    Have fun!
