Media Composer is incredibly picky about the hardware you run it on. Check the system requirements here:

    Media Composer System Requirements

Any deviation from them and you might have a system that won’t run. The most problems are caused by running an unapproved OS (Windows XP 32bit, Vista Business 32 and 64 bit are the only two approved OS’s on a PC), an unapproved Graphics Card (nVidia Quadro cards are they only approved cards), and unapproved processors (AMD = BAD for Avid…go Intel).

I’m not saying Media Composer won’t run on your system, but there’s no guarantee. Can you get a dealer to install it on you system to try it, or do you have a friend who has it so you can give it a test run?

    Michael.

And as for “does it support .mov?” Well, not really. It will convert movs into MXF upon import.
