  Raid Array Recommendations

  Hi all,

  I currently edit in MC 2.8 on OS X 10.4.11 Software only. I’m considering my options of upgrading to a used adrenaline with dnxcl board (don’t have the means to upgrade CPU and MC to 3.0 Nitris DX).

  Along with the upgrade, I would love to add a raid array to my system. Currently I am editing using a 2nd internal HDD as my media drive. I know the Avid VideoRaid exists and the small 5 bay tower is reasonably priced. But I was thinking there had to be something else that would perform as well and not be as expensive as buying an Avid branded product.

  Can anyone suggest a good raid array for use with a mac? Either scsi, fiber channel, or anyother good interface is fine. I would just like to be able to start around ~2 TB and be scalable up to at least 5.

  Google and the Avid forums are just not helping me out a whole lot.

  FYI, this wouldn’t need to be a networkable solution. It would be providing Media storage only for a desktop machine, therefore no need for portability either.
