    Hi guys,

I just wondered if you could help me out with some of the basics of HDV, as I’m currently working on my first project using the format, and I feel that there must be a much more simple way to work with it than what I am doing.

I am running Media Composer 2.5, and had absolutely no problem digitizing in the footage and editing, as I normally would do with any other SD/HD. However the problems started when I went to export a QT Ref and it wouldn’t let me, stating that Long GOP media cannot be exported as a QT Ref, must be a QT Movie. I then looked on some forums and they suggest transcoding to DNxHD, but with the 25 hours worth of rushes I have this seems extreme as it would be very time consuming, and even transcoding the timeline which is 2 hours would take too long.

All this is fine, I can find a way around it, however I just feel that there must be an easier process to export the timeline, take it into Procoder and export burn to DVD. The HDV results are stunning, however it is turning a process that would normally take a couple of hours into anything over a day.

Any advice would be very appreciated,

    Many thanks,

    Simon
