Quictime reference – Field order?
Hi
I’m sure this is a basic one but I’m stumped. I’m trying to export a QT reference but my export is coming out with the strange ‘line’ effect which I’m fairly sure is to do with field order. Excuse my lack of knowledge on this one but if any could help me out I’d be very grateful! Can I adjust QT reference settings?

If you have interlaced video, no matter the field dominance you see the lines. What are you trying to do?

I’m having the same issue. I’ve got material that was downconverted from HDCAM SR (24p) with pulldown added to DigiBeta, then digged from DigiBeta via SDI to MXF 1:1 on a Nitris.
Now I’ve cut the material in Xpress Pro and am trying to output two versions: an H264 Quicktime for the web, and an 8-bit Quicktime to make an SD DVD. I’ve tried to use Cinema Tools and Compressor to remove the pulldown and get it back to 24P, but I can’t seem to find the correct cadence to get it to work in Cinema Tools — and in Compressor it works, but there seems to be a big hit in quality. There’s a kind of ‘ringing’ in the picture that looks awful.
Any help to get the material back to 24P would be most appreciated.

You guys need to do a video mixdown and then with that on the top track, or even better, a fresh sequence, export that as a QT reference. The problem arises when you have one clip, even one frame of a different resolution or codec on your timeline; quicktime gets confused. Sometimes I have not been able to even find the culprit because it could be as simple as a PAL 4:2:0 sequence with 1 title in 4:1:1. Mixdown always solves QT reference problems for me, so it just became part of my workflow eons ago. If they fixed this, I will never know, I guess.
