I normally work in SD but I rescently decided to try out my Panasonic HVX-200’s HD capabilities. I shot some footage and brought it over via P2 to my firewire drive. Then I imported it and I see the video but when I play it its super choppy and does not play in real time and the video track is red. I have mojo but do not have it plugged in. I’ve tried expert render but it doesnt do anything…still red track. Anyone see this before?? What can I do?

Are you in a 720p project type?

If you’re running this off a firewire drive that might be why it’s choking on playback. Do you have an internal drive (that’s not your system drive) that you could transfer the media to? You should be able to play DVCProHD footage off a Sata drive, but I’m not sure about firewire.

I work on a laptop, so I’m not sure I could put in a SATA drive big enough to do the type of lenghty HD projects I’m looking to do eventually. Does anyone have any experience with an eSATA external Harddrive? Would it work? Thanks.
