  Growing Grass

  Is there any way to create a grass growing out of the ground look with After Effects using only built-in effects or if there are any free plug-ins available that would work as well?

  The CC Hair plug-in might be your best bet at a one shot solution, but it doesn’t allow for a great degree of flexibility.

  You can create some interesting ‘blowing in the wind’ motion for a field of ‘grass’ but the rendering itself isn’t all that convincing.

  Too bad they don’t still make Maya Paint FX for AE.
