avid will not be at N.A.B this year.
i read on another site that Avid nor Apple will be presenting at N.A.B. this year, wonder if this means no new avid products or major updates this year.

Avid won’t be at NAB but they will be at Vegas. Although they won’t have a booth doesn’t mean they aren’t releasing products. Not that I know anything of Avid’s release strategy.

AVID will be at the Renaissance Hotel in Vegas, which is the hotel just to the right of the South Hall of the convention center. I read yesterday that at a meeting in Atlanta, AVID said they will release new hardware that will “compete against” produts similar to the AJA I/O HD and Blackmagic Eclipse. I have no idea if this is accurate information, or if this is something someone made up.

The New President of Avid, Graham Sharp held an informal lunch at Keycode media in North Hollywood a few months back. I was one of about 30 people who attended. It was a casual Q & A session. I got that he is planning to bring avid back to the forefront. He is also well aware that we are all skeptical. A few things I took away from the event:
They are not going to build hardware unless they can add value. Other than that, third party hardware seems open.
They need to limit the editor line-up, currently there are 14 different edit systems.
XML support is being worked on.
The survey that they did showed Avid had the lowest customer satisfaction of any company that had been surveyed by that survey company.
And finally, there would be product announcements in February.
At one point I stated that Adrenaline EOL and he didn’t refute me. That speaks volumes.
