  OUtput HDV to Sony HVR-M25U Deck

  HI,

  I’m trying to output a HDV timeline to my Sony HDV Deck. I followed the Avid manual steps for the “export to HDV device, etc. After doing the encoding I get the error: Export to HDV device complete with error.
  Export to HDV Device- DIO failed to arm.”

  Avid give no instruction on how to set up the VTR so I recorded black for :30sec. with time code to match my sequence.

  Any help would be greatly appreciated.

  Hi Chris,

  You get that error when the deck is not configured properly. Are you sure you do not have downconvert enabled at the moment? If you do, AVID will see it as a DV deck.

  Make sure you have 20 seconds or so of black at the beginning and of your sequence, and a bit at the end. The HDV export typically skips a few frames at the beginning, so without black, you’ll miss a bit of your sequence. And the black will give you pre and post roll on your tape. It will just start recording whereever you are cued up.

  Thanks a million, that worked, almost. the deck does opperate now after switching the menu setup.

  Short sequences work fine. I tried to lay back a 25 min seq. and it locks up 80% of the way through. If I cut the seq. in half, appx. 14 min, it works fine. So I’m doing my seq. as Pt 1, Pt2.

  Any ideas?
