saving media files from 1 project to another
Hi there,
I work on an Avid Media Composer Adreneline HD.
I worked on project “A” last year which held media for roughly 8 videos. 1 of the 8 videos is being used again this year for project “B”. I need the media that was once attached to project “A” for that video to now be attached to project “B”. I want the rest of the media from project “A” off my drives to allow for space. I tried copying and/or duplicating the clips, sequences and effect clips from the bins of project “A” to the new bins of project “B” that correspond with that video I need to rework. However, when I then move the media files attributed to project “A” out of the OMF folder, they show up as Media Offline for project “B”, even the clips, sequences and effect clips I copied over.
Can someone help me? I am reading up on this, but I thought I would try out the forum. This is my first post.

You want to Consolidate all the clips you want from A into your B project.
Open Project B. Navigate to the Project A bin that has all of the master clips you want associated with Project B. Copy them to a Bin in Project B. Select them all and do a Consolidate (I think it’s under Bin or Clip menu). This will make a duplicate of your A media and associate with B. Now you can move your A media off the drive and everything you wanted to keep (everything you consolidated) will be associated with B and will remain online.
Titles and effects will be to be recreated though, since they’re just PreComputes. You can bring the Titles over and choose to ReCreate Title Media, and the effects saved in a bin will carry over too. Just render them when you apply them to your new sequences.
