  • Incorrect pulldown?

I just came on a SD 23.976p project. Pulldowns settings were captured at “standard”. I noticed some jittery footage when there is quick motion. I changed to “advanced” and it seemed to clean it up somewhat. Is that all I need to do or should the settings have been set during capture to “advanced” I know the footage was shot on Panasonic cameras.

If shot on Panasonic cameras, the first thing to look for would be the NORMAL versus ADVANCED. If that cleared it up, then you are all set. If there were still problems, then the next thing to look for would be the A, B, C and D relationship to timecode.

When properly captured, there should be no jaggies anywhere there is motion (when stepping through frame by frame in geen/green mode.

Michael, thanks I am still seeing sligt jaggies on some rapid motion. I guess my question is should I recapture a bad clip and see if that clears it up? And if it does what workflow would you suggest in getting the sequence corrected… edit as is, then decompose?
    Thanks,

After looking at various clips I have noticed that the cadence on some are “normal” and some are “advanced”…any thoughts???

Recapture the NORMAL as advanced after setting it correctly in the Film/24p settings.

Michael thnks for your replies. The problem was that some of the clips were captured at “Standard” without checking the “A” pulldown once I did that it was smooth!

    Thanks,

    Mike
