Mac Error -50
I recently installed Avid Xpress Pro 4.8.1 on my Mac iBook G4 (Mac OS X 10.3.9). I loaded a project with all the associated bins from a project I created on my Avid Xpress Pro 5x for the PC. I’m accessing data from the laptop and an external Firewire drive. Everything loaded fine. All the media was there. I loaded an edited timeline and tried to play that. However, when I tried to play the timeline, I got the message: “Mac Error -50 (error in user parameter list). It played fine for a second then gave me that error.

What version of QT are you using? 4.8.1 requires QT 7.0…

I am using QT 7.2.

Try rolling your QT version back to 7.0, and see if that helps. You should be able to find it at the Apple site under ‘downloads’ and searching on QT 7.0…

So QuickTime affects playback of the timeline in Avid? I didn’t think they were that closely linked.

Yes. Having the correct version of QT is very important, and I’ll bet that’s your problem.

I’ll give it a shot.
One of the Avid forum posts said I need to install OS X 10.4.6.
I currently have 10.3.9.
