I have a problem logging and capturing PAL material. The project is set up for PAL 25 fps. Editor controls the playback machine and PAL video looks good. But when attempting to capture an individual clip or log clips for batch capturing, I get the following message-

“Exception SMReturnTape MobOffset: source Mob editrate (25) does not match tc editrate (30)”

It appears there is a tc editrate switch somewhere in software. But I sure can’t find it. I’d be greatful if someone could point me in the right direction.

System is Xpress Pro HD with Mojo, version 5.6.4 running on a Dell workstation with dual 3gig processors. Machine is a JVC BR-DV6000, which works well capturing NTSC and has worked successfully capturing PAL material with a different NLE.

    Thanks all.

Is there an NTSC/PAL switch on the back of that VTR? Is it set correctly? Are you trying to capture an NTSC tape into a PAL project?

Project is a PAL 25 project. The JVC machine is set to PAL. The PAL tape plays very well and looks good in the monitor and with the capture tool. But Avid refuses to capture or log the clips.

Oddly enough, I can import other PAL files from hard drives and Avid will play/edit, etc, just fine. Also, this machine has been used quite successfully in PAL mode with two other NLEs.

And I’ve spent a bit of time on phone with Avid with no success. Makes me want to fire up the old Discreet Edit system one more time.

    Thanks.

If you normally edit/capture NTSC projects, make sure that you remove and re-add your deck in the deck configuration. There are separate machine templates for NTSC and PAL decks. Avid won’t change this automatically when you start a PAL project…you have to manually remove and add the deck again.
