As I am new to Avid, someone helped me put a timecode window in the timeline for my sequence. Problem is, that timecode window is now only visible when I pause the video during playback. During playback, the timecode window is not visible.

I’m pretty sure this has nothing to do with selecting the video track on which the timecode lies, as I’ve selected various combinations of tracks trying to find an answer. I also looked at the Effects Palette and Effects Editor and couldn’t find my answer in either of those places.

    Any ideas?

    Thanks.

The Timecode plugin isn’t realtime, so you have to render. If you haven’t rendered, when you play your video it will disappear, then reappear when you pause/stop it.

Select the track your timecode is on, right click and select Render. When it’s done, play it again. It should be onscreen now.

It’s not a bad idea to cpature a low rez tc windw and leave it online if you do many window dubs. This way, you can throw it in with a real time pip effect.
Also, don’t forget if you have a beta deck, you can throw it into super and run a dub daisy chained off of that deck.

Thanks, MHancock. Yes, rendering was the answer. Thanks for your help.
