Hi we have a media composer running V11 on a Mac. When ever we export uncompressed quicktime movies recently we have been getting really bad interlacing issues, it never used to be a problem but in the last 2 months everything is like this. We have not changed our avid setting. I have asked the shooters if they have changed a setting on the cameras to mess with field order or if that is even possible to change on the camera and they say no they can’t change it on the cameras.

    Here is what we use
    Uncompressed Quicktime
    720×486 DS
    29.97 fps
    Upper field first

I have looked at other posts and it seems like everyone else is using lower field first and I know that reversing field order will mess up the video But NTSC is upper field first or thats what I was told years ago in school. We have tried using lower first and the video looked worse. ANY IDEAS?
    thanks

Unless I am mistaken, all NTSC is in fact LOWER field first with the possible exception of DV output (which is 720×480 instead of 720×486).

I routinely use lower field first for all exports. We’re NTSC.

    NTSC is lower field first.

Pal is upper field first, except for DV–which is lower field first (last I heard, anyway).

    It’s all a mess, I know that!

    Michael.
