  deleting files in project

  Hi,
  I would like to know if I can copy and paste a clip from one project in to another.
  And if so, if the original clip in the first project is deleted, will the copy in
  the second project go offline? Both projects media are in the same drive.

  You can copy/paste between projects.
  And if you loose media, that depends on the way of deleting. Deleting a master clip won’t affect the other project, but deleting the media does…

  You’re wanting to take Clip1 from Project1 into Project2, right? But, if you delete the media for Clip1 from Project1 you still want it online in Project2. You need to consolidate the clip from within Project2.

  Open Project2. Go to the hamburger menu in the upper left corner of your project window, to go Open Bin, navigate to the bin that holds Clip1 in Project1. Open it. Alt+Drag that clip to a bin in Project2. This will create a copy of the master clip in Project2. Now select that copy, go to Bin, Consolidate/Transcode. Choose to Consolidate that clip to one of your drives and uncheck “Skip existing files”. It will consolidate it, meaning it will make a new media clip for your Clip1.copy to reference. Plus, it will associate it with Project2. Now you can delete it from Project1 and you won’t lose anything.

  Hope that wasn’t too confusing, but that’s how I’d do it. It really doesn’t take long at all, either, once you get the hang of it.
