    Hi-

I just started on a film job. My coworkers have done all the loading already, but since they have never worked on an NTSC project and no ALE files were provided, they did not digitize footage beginning on the “A” frame. So as a result roughly 75% of the footage begins on a B or a C, etc.., thus doubling some frames, missing others, and of course the image on the Avid shakes terribly.

Since they’ve already done a rough cut, I’d rather not redigitize new master clips then manually go back and reinsert anything.

Is there is a way to modify the original clips? I tried deleting media, and then re-doing the time code, but the Avid gives a warning: “picture digitized without pull down, but settings are for pulldown.”

    Any suggestions? Thanks in advance.

    1. You need to select the original master clips
Unlink them via the Control-Shift-(relink) relink becomes unlink with the modifier keys.
    2. Once unlinked, keep master clips selected and go to Clip-Modify Pulldown Phase.
    3. Select “A” frame from menu and OK. This will do all your Pullin modifications automatically based on timecode relationship of “A” = :x0 and :x5.
    4. Make sure your Film/24p settings are correct for NORNAL or ADVANCED pulldown.
    5. Redigitize.

    Hey Michael-

    Thanks for the help.

But I think I’m using an older version (a friend using Adrenaline suggested something similar). There’s no “Modify Pulldown Phase”. I have a “Modify…” window then “Set Pulldown” option but you can’t specific :00 or :05 and it doesn’t seem to work anyhow.

I’m redigitizing now. Some clips seem to work if I change the timecode, and redigitize. Others don’t. Strange.

Let me know if you have any other suggestions.

    Thanks so much.

    thanks michael-

yeah no “modify pulldown phase” on my version of avid.

I tried unlinking, redoing the time code, and then redigitizing, but when it relinks to the redigitized media, the edit points are off a few frames.

so looks like i’ll have to redigitize everything into new master clips and reconform the edit by hand.

    thanks.
