  • “No Output Modes” when attempting to “Digital Cut” to a DV Cam Deck

Hello, please forgive the rookie question, but I’ve never had to print to tape with Avid Express Pro before, and I’m struggling to output a sequence to my Sony DV Cam deck, going through a firewire cable. Avid is recognizing the deck. I know this, because I do have device control over the deck. What I can’t do is use the Digital Cut Tool to record out. When I click on the red button to “Play Digital Cut”, I get a message telling me that there are “no available output modes”. The “Output Mode” drop down button is deselected and says “No Output Modes”.

Is the issue that this version of Avid is incompatible with DV Cam decks? Could it be that my sequence is a 23.976 sequence created from 14-1 OMF files, rather than DV files?

Any thoughts or suggestions, most appreciated!

You haven’t told us which Sony DV deck you are using. Avid is compatible with a lot of them…see your pull-down list of decks. If yours is not listed, try “generic dv device.”

If that still doesn’t work, try crash recording your sequence and confirm that it in fact records the video.

Let us know how it turns out.
