  • Digital Cut on PD-170 – Only CRASH RECORD possible?

Posted by Austin Ray on January 3, 2007 at 10:46 pm

I’m trying to make a master from Avid MediaComposer on DVCAM, and I’m using SONY PD-170.

When I open the Digital Cut Window I can only choose “Crash Record.” I’ve been in the Deck Settings control and made Assemble Edit and Insert Edit available.

What does this mean? PD-170 isn’t accuarte enough to make a precise TC edit?
What do I need to do to make it happends?

    Austin,

The VTRs used in cameras and inexpensive DVCAM/miniDV VTRs do not have the ability to execute insert or assemble editing. You need a Sony DSR-80 or DSR-1500 (or above) to do true editing. So yes you are stuck with crash records.
