  • Failed to find preroll point…. for every clip!

    Hello,

I’m working on a clip show and we’re using avid adrenaline for pc.

i’m trying to digitize, and for every single clip i am getting a “failed to find preroll point on tape” error. all i have to do is click “try again” and it works, but does anyone know what could be causing the error message to pop up in the first place? this is happening on nearly every clip, on every tape, and there’s tons of room for preroll. a real headache. thanks.

Are you using DV? I’ve noticed that DV decks tend often move way too fast and computer will roll right past the in point. On my deck I had to go into the deck settings and change the speed of the scrub fast-forward to fix this.

You might also check the timecode format…if you are working with NTSC video the tape may have been recorded with Non-Drop Frame timecode.
You might also check to make sure that you are giving enough pre-roll for your deck.
