    Hi.

Anyone work on a ‘reality’ show recorded on XDCAM? A show cometh and they want to shoot using XDCAM at IMX 50Mbps. I have worked on shows using the IMX tape stock and had no issues with offline or online, but XDCAM is uncharted territory for me. I am looking for experience, feed back, opinions, etc…

    thanks in advance

We are using XDCam in our facility. The workflow is pretty nice with our Avid Media Composer Adrenaline 2.2.9. We do short form work but you can start with the MPEG proxies to do your rough cut and then when you have your edit setup you can then do a batch import of the native mfx format and bring the IMX50 resolution in place of the material you have used in your sequence and everything falls into place. When you import the footage you do not have the option of resolution it will come in at it’s native format(DV25, IMX50 ect). Depending on what deck you are using you can also do digitizing if you prefer. There is no search time at all once you enter a timecode and hit cue you are instantly there. We do everything as an import but if you prefer the traditional tape machine method there is that option the only downfall more conversions of the clip. We have the deck connected to a third party firewire card in the our HP XW8200. Do not use the firewire port on the motherboard you will have conflicts with the adrenaline. Hope this helps
