Using 4:3 in 16:9
There’s some DV stuff I shot last year, that was mostly shot in 16:9 using the internal setup, not a lens adaptor.
But part of the shots I will be using, a very few, were shot in 4:3. They were already shot to be cropped up and down onto a 16:9 frame, but I wanted to have to whole 4:3 frame just in case.
How should I proceed to use those shots in Xpress Pro?

one solution I’ve come across (that was the most time efficient of three) was to bring the footage into a sequence
once in the sequence, stick a horizontally centered squeeze on the clip
this defaults to a 50% squeeze, you probably want 75% (it looks pretty good and 75% is 12:16 – if you make 4:3 into 12:9 for common denominator)
once you’ve rendered, do a video mixdown…now you’ve got your clip in the bin as a 4:3 with columns.
THIS WORKS FOR ANAMORPHIC 16:9. YOU MAY WANT TO DO A DIFFERENT RESIZE IF YOUR 16:9 IS LETTERBOXED, BUT THE REST OF THE PROCESS WILL WORK.

Just go to the reformat effect and apply one of the reset or the pan & scan as needed.

Use 3D PIP on the clips instead of Resize. It’s better quality.
