    Hi!

I have a notebook, Sony Vaio VGN-S3VP, with the sound chip:
Realtek ALC260 2-Channel High Definition Audio Codec 3D Surround AC 97

It does not seem to work with Avid Free DV. When I start Avid this error message comes up:
    Error: Exception: ADM_Dsound_mixer_open_error

Could anyone help me to solve this. I just took an Avid Xpress Pro course and I would like to continue using Avid on my notebook.

Should I change the Driver? Is there an Alternitive Driver for this sound card that enables the use of Avid Free DV?

I would be extremely grateful for any help. Many thanks!

    Best,
    Melanie

I am trying to correct this problem for a friend with no success. Latest driver from Realtek has not helped and am at a loss for what to try next – beyond recommending a different system, of course. I glean from various disparate bits of information that the ac97 on-board audio drivers are not compatible with Avid..
