    Hello,
I posted this in the FCP forum as well.

Does anyone know if there are there interlacing issues if you Telecine 16mm or 35mm (24fps) at 59.98 instead of 23.98?

Also does anyone know of any other forums or web resources that specialize in technical aspects of Feature Film Post Production? Info on Nucoda’s, DaVinci’s, Avids..etc..

    Thanks so much, Chris

Are you referring to a 720p.59.94 format? There is no 59.98. The frame rates are all .1% multipliers of 24, 30 and 60 which will give you

    23.976
    29.97
    59.94

For the true math folks – it is for 30fps 30*(1000/1001)

If going to 59.94p there is still a 2:3 cadence in the pulldown but it is based on frames and not fields as in the NTSC 59.94 fields per second format.

    Thanks Micheal!

Are there any good websites to help explain all this? Any good books?

Digital Filmmaking by Tom Ohanian and myself is a good resource (of course). It may be a bit dated for some of the chapters, but the ones dealing with film gauges and transfer are all still valid. Also check out my website at http://www.24p.com for specific whitepapers on a variety of subjects.
