AVID TECH SUPPORT CANNOT SOLVE: 1801 PCIP ROM SHADOWING ERROR
Please help:
After consulting Avid Tech support (machine under support contract),
I learned that it was possible to install the supported nVidia 750XGL
AGP board in our systems.Well, that has been easier said than done.
After many many attempts and lots of time on phone Support,
we still have the 1801 ROM SHADOWING ERROR.System Specs:
IBM Intellistation Z-Pro 933mhzP3
1gig RAM
Meridian III board setThis is the procedure I followed that took Avid Tech support
almost 2 months to generate.1. Uninstall the secondary EDC monitor from the device manager.
*Right Click on the Desktop and choose Properties
*select the “settings” tab, and highlight the #2 monitor.
*Right click on the #2 monitor and choose Properties.
*in the properties window choose Adapter, then hit the properties button.
*in the next window choose the “driver” tab and hit the uninstall button.
*Once the device is uninstalled Shut down the computer.2. Power up the system, Hit F1 to enter the bios.
*select Devices & I/O Ports & set the following
*Select Active Video – PCI
*Palatte snooping – Disabled
*Video Interupt – Enabled
-Hit [ESC] to get back to the main bios screen
*select Advanced Setup
*select Rom ShadowingThere are 9 ranges shown, ranging E0000 through C0000
Set the following 6 ranges to disabled:dc000
d8000
d4000
d0000
cc000
c8000IF ALL OF THESE RANGES ARE NOT USER-SELECTABLE – CONFIRM THAT THE AGP
CARD IS NOT IN THE SYSTEM*Hit [ESC] to get back to the main bios screen, save the bios settings.
*Boot Win2k & confirm operation of the EDC for video punch through.3. shut down the system, & install your AGP video card
*power up the system, Hit F1 to enter the bios.
*select Devices & I/O Ports & set the following
*Select Active Video – AGP
*Hit [ESC] to get back to the main bios screen, save the bios settings.THIS IS WHERE THINGS GO WRONG
4.Install the Nvidia Drivers from C:\Program Files\Avid\Utilities\nVidia Quadro4
*double click on “setup” and follow the installers instructions.
install with default configuration.
*Re-Boot the system after installation is complete.Once the AGP card is put into place and you select it as the Active Video card,
the ROM shadowing settings automatically go back to the way they were and the
fun little error returns.I hope I’ve included enough data so that someone, anyone! can help.
I convinced my company (Henry’s Motor Company if you know what I mean),
to drop the $$$$ to make this purchase so I can at least attempt to use
Marquee. Now, my hind end is in the ringer.PLEASE COW, BRING ME HOME TO THE GREEN PASTURES
