I am working on a documentary shot using the new Panasonic P2 camera (AG-HVX200) at 720PN. The P2 cards are downloaded to firewire drives in the field. I have been bringing the files into Avid by copying the audio and video MXF files into the Avid MediaFiles\MXF\1 directory. Is that the only way to work with this format?

Specific problems that I am having include:

    -Repeating/Looping timecode.
    -Media Offline in some clips.
-System crashes when scanning the directory after adding new files.
    -A1 tracks offline.

I downloaded and installed v5.2.3 of Xpress Pro HD, but the situation has not improved. Why the media offline? Why the strange looping timecode? Is this an Avid problem? If anyone has any advice/input, or shared frustration even — it would be greatly appreciated.

Okay… If anyone is interested. I figured out that one of my clips was corrupt, so the corresponding V1,A1-4 files had to be removed from the MediaFiles directory. Had to use process of elimination method to find the corrupted file and after sifting through about 1,600 total files, I finally found the culprit.

Not sure what could have caused this, and not sure if that file can be salvaged, but locating it seems to have done wonders to fix the system crash issue.

Still working on the other problems, like the offline A1 tracks. It’s a mystery.
