Batch Rename?
Posted by David Braswell on March 1, 2006 at 4:30 pmI’m having to log a project that wasn’t slated nor was I on the shoot. Consequently, I’m seeing lots of shots that I can’t give meaningful names to. Is there a way to batch rename shots after they’re captured? Driving an Adrenaline HD machine here.

March 3, 2006 at 12:22 amI think you question is, can I rename the cips after i batch record? Yes
Avid keeps track of clips by the timecode, not name. you can change the clip name anytime… -

March 3, 2006 at 2:17 pmNope… question is as stated originally. An example may help.
I log 10 shots of “widget” allowing Avid to create uniquely named clips. After loading, I’m told by my shooter or producer that the “widget” is actually a “thingamajig”.
Is there a way to batch rename all “widget” clips in the bin to “thingamajig” clips? For instance, DOS allows you to do this at a command prompt in Windows.
REN widget.* thingamajig.*
I know I’m asking a lot, but this board’s users are some of the savviest.

March 3, 2006 at 4:28 pmI was looking for an answer to this recently as I hatted the way I had to remove all the .sync01 extensions added after using Autosync. The answer came from developer Bouke who had made a small macro utility for PC called ButtonMacro:
https://www.editb.nl/multimedia/public/ButtonMacro.zipJust set up the key commands you want and make sure the first clip name is selected. If you are on a Mac then the same can achieved this Applescript.

July 3, 2012 at 6:17 pmThe link is no longer valid and I do not see the Apple Script. I am on a mac so I would need the Apple Scrip version – can you help?
