  • Reformatting AVID FW drive for Mac?

Was given a Seagate FW drive that was originally used on an Avid. Want to use it for a project on my Mac, but my Mac’s not recognizing it. Thought I could reformat it but it doesn’t see it at all, not in Disk Utility or System Profile.

    Any ideas?

appears it’s only recognizing the drive via USB. Worthless..

Sounds like the firewire bridge might be fried. It’s a pretty common occurrence with firewire USB combo drives. the drive itself is probably fine and if you put it into a new case or mounted it internally you’ll probably find it has plenty of life left.
