    Hey Guys,

I am having a hard time with this…

I want to create a word…”house” for example.

And I want that word to wiggle (like the effect used in “Dr. Katz”…I believe it is reffered to as — Squigglevision –, but I want it to be written in a specific font (not handwritten). I have created the effect using Vector Paint…but I can only wiggle strokes that I create with my mouse. Is there a way to create a word in Illustrator…change it to paths? and then apply those paths in the Vector Paint editor?

My understanding of this is fairly limited…but I think this should be possible. Please give a very detailed explanation of how do to do this…I have Illustrator, but I don’t really know how to use it.

    Thank you for your time…

Well, the best way to learn is to dive right in. So, I will skip the step by step lesson, unless you care to return the favor with detailed instructions on how to replace the mass air flow sensor on a 1985 Porsche 928.

BUT, in Illustrator you will find plug ins like “punk and bloat” and a couple of others you can apply to your letters once you turn them from text to paths. This gives them the wiggles. Rember to create outlines first, there should be a good explanation of all of the above in the manuals and online help.

Create three or four different versions or variations of your text, saving each to a different file. You should then rasterize them, turning them into typical image files in Photoshop. A tif or pict should do. Bring those into the Avid and make a bunch of edits which cycle through the different images.

OR, my preference, create a quicktime movie in After Effects which does the same.

There are some shortcuts which can help you cycle through images. Sequentialy numbers image files to make a pict or tga sequence is one. There are others as well.

I am sorry…I accidentally put this post in the wrong forum. I meant to put it in After Effects. Thanks for your response…”punk and bloat” did help, that is a cool effect.
