I’m considering my options of archiving my modest HD library of (both HDCAM and SR 444 tapes) to either DVCPROHD or Avid DNX.

We will have G5 quad and 7 -10 TB.

The idea is to search make compilations and sales of footage for TV work direct from DVCPROHD or Avid DnX.

    Ideas?

How long before 8bit won’t make the grade and our storage will become viewing copies only?

I’d keep it on DnX until you can put it on HDCamSR or D5. They are less compressed and your HD will not suffer as much. While DVCProHD is good for aquisition, it is less desirable for archiving.

Is DNx HD working on FCP?
I like the way they keep the sub sampling for HDCAM.
It also has been adopted by BBC who are potential clients so we can send DNx files.
