  • How to combine animatte and PIP

Hi, I’m on avid adrenaline and i’m trying to do a pretty simple effect.

    I have two clips. Let’s say V1 – People talking. V2 – a chair.

Now V2 i ofcourse above V1 and I want the chair (V2) to break into 3 pieces, and then piece by piece, let them fly out of the screen, revealing the talkin people underneath (V1).

I was goint to copy the V2 clip to V3 and V4 and then animatte one piece on each layer of the chair. I then wanted to 3D-pictureINpicture each layer out of the screen – having my V1 revealed bit by bit.

I was working on the first bit and only having V1 and V2 on the timeline. I applyed the pictureINpicture effect on V2. Nice – it flys out of the screen. Now I steped in in V2 and applyed the animatte to cut out the first piece of the chair. Also nice. BUT when I step out, the pictureINpicture effect results in the V1 to be animated with the V2 and flying out of the screen with it. Uderneath it all I still have my V1 in place but it also (at least a copy of it) flyes out with the V2.

I want to picture in picture animate an animate without it affecting the underlying layers.

    How!

    Thank you.

    Hey

PIP is a compositing FX i.e. it will apply to the composite of the images below it.

    To get around it.

On V2 add the animatte first, then once you have done that setp into V2 and apply the PIP.

    Repeat for V3 and V4

    Should work.

I’ve done that but that leaves me with a black background where the keyhole from the animate should be.

    Of course

Sorry i wasn’t thinking properly yesterday.

The PIP would have to go over the animate, but both would i think need to be stepped in below V2.

I will check it out on my machine today and drop you a post.
